Description
20 Jury Street is a 2-storey plus attic building dating from 1781, located on the south side of Jury Street. The building is constructed in the 18th century and is now covered with later stucco, likely from the early 19th century. It features a string band at the eaves and at the first-floor sill level, with plain pilasters at the corners that lack caps. The attic storey has an elliptical window with a moulded surround set in a central gable, flanked by gabled dormers on each side. The first-floor windows are sashes set in plain reveals, with the central opening blocked. A notable feature is the good 6-fielded-panelled oak door with a semi-elliptical fanlight in a wide moulded frame. The ground floor has 19th-century splayed plate glass bays that are considered inoffensive. The old tile roof has been renewed on the left-hand side, and the dormers have lattice easements. The first-floor windows have glazing bars, and there is a panelled first-floor room. This building is part of a group of listed buildings on the south side.
