Description

Oakley Wood Farmhouse dates to the early 19th century, appearing on an Ordnance Survey map of 1836 but not on earlier maps. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, topped with a clay tile roof featuring coped gable ends and brick dentil eaves. Brick stacks are located at the gable ends.

The house has a double-depth plan, with two main rooms on either side of a central entrance passage. This passage continues to a side doorway and provides access to a rear kitchen, a dairy, and a staircase.

The two-storey building presents a symmetrical three-bay front. Ground floor and first-floor windows are recessed within segmental brick arches and have 20th-century casements. The centre of the façade is blind. Second-floor windows are 19th-century six-pane casements. A central doorway has a 19th-century flush-panel door with glazed upper panels, sheltered by a hipped slate canopy. The rear elevation features two gables, with a mixture of 19th- and 20th-century casements and a small round-headed stair window centrally placed.

The interior retains some original 19th-century joinery, though the fireplaces have been replaced. The dairy includes slate shelving.
