Description
Nos 16 and 18 Smith Street is a two-storey building with square timber framing, likely dating from the early 17th century. It features two flush gables that have original barge boards and finials, with some traces of carving. The lower storey has 19th-century plate glass shopfronts, while the side wall of Taylor's has been rebuilt in stone blocks and is set back. The upper floor overhangs the pavement on the east side of Gerrard Street. The building has an old tiled roof. For an extension at the back, see The Gables on Gerrard Street. Nos 4 to 28 (even) form a group.
