Description
Nos 33 and 35 on Jury Street, formerly known as "The Porridge Pot," is a building dating from 1781. It features a medieval structure with a front that dates to around 1700 and a back wing from the 17th century. The internal timbering is characteristic of a Wealden house. Originally two separate properties, it stands two storeys plus an attic and has a four-window facade made of painted brickwork with stone dressings.
The building has a moulded stone cornice, stone quoins, keyblocks, and a string band at the first floor. The upper floor includes two sashes in cased frames on the left side and two original three-light casement windows in wooden frames on the right side. The lower storey features two 18th-century style shop windows, likely later additions, each with a half-glazed door. There is also a third original door with six fielded panels on the extreme right side. The roof has two gabled dormers covered with old tiles. The building has recently been painted and is in good repair.
All the listed buildings on the north side of Jury Street, from Nos 17 to 37, form a group.
