Description

This is a house, built circa 1818-30, and now used as a shop. It is located on Parade in Royal Leamington Spa. The building is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with a painted stucco facade, and has a Welsh slate roof. It is three storeys high and has two windows on the first floor. The first-floor windows are tall sashes with six panes per sash. The second floor has three-pane sashes with sills. The ground floor now has a glazed shop front. All windows are set within plain reveals. The interior has not been inspected. The Parade was originally known as Lillington Lane, renamed Union Row circa 1809, and then Upper and Lower Parade in 1860. The lower section was laid out circa 1810-14, with most building occurring between 1810 and 1818, while the upper section, facing east, was built between 1824 and 1830. Originally built as houses, hotels, and lodging-houses, most of the buildings had become shops by 1850. This building is part of a group with numbers 73 Parade and 87-93 Regent Street.
