Description
89 Regent Street is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from around 1814 to 1836, with later additions and alterations, including a late 20th-century shop front. The building is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with a stucco facade, topped by a Welsh slate roof and featuring a cast-iron balcony. It stands three storeys high and has two first-floor windows. The first floor displays tall 6/9 sash windows, while the second floor has 3/3 sash windows, all of which are adorned with flat rusticated arches and raised keystones, with sills on the second-floor windows. The ground floor features a glazed shop front and there is an end stack. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, Regent Street was originally called Cross Street and was laid out between 1808 and 1814, with the first houses in the terrace development being built in 1814. Nearby properties, including Nos 71 and 73 Parade and Nos 87-93 (odd) Regent Street, are part of a group.
