Description

Two houses at 82 and 84 Regent Street date to around 1820, with later additions and alterations, including mid-to-late 20th-century shop fronts on the ground floor. The building is constructed of reddish-brown brick with a painted stucco front facade, topped by a Welsh slate roof. It is three storeys high, with four first-floor openings. The first floor has two six-over-six sash windows, a blind opening, and a final six-over-six sash window. The second floor mirrors this arrangement with two three-over-six sashes and a corresponding blind opening and sash. All windows are set in plain reveals with sills. The ground floor features part-glazed doors within glazed shop fronts. A long, narrow raised plaque is positioned between the first and second floors. Chimneys are located centrally and on the left side of the building. The interior remains uninspected. Regent Street, originally Cross Street, was laid out between 1808 and 1814. The building contributes to the group value of Regent Street and is viewed in conjunction with the neighbouring properties at numbers 86, 86A, 88 and 90.
