Description

This is a terrace of seventeen houses, built around 1826 to 1830, with later additions and alterations. The houses are situated on Newbold Street, Royal Leamington Spa. The exterior is primarily of pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco facades, topped with Welsh slate roofs, except for numbers 5, 7, 11, and 15 which have cement tiles.

The two-storey terrace has seventeen first-floor windows, with three windows to the left and two to each dwelling beyond. Number 9 features a canted bay window that extends the full height of the building. Quoins are visible on the left-hand side. The first floor windows are predominantly 8/8 sashes, with some 6/6 sashes and blind boxes. Number 9's canted bay has two 2/1 sashes between 1/1 sashes. All first-floor windows have sills. A frieze, cornice, and a low parapet run along the top of the building, rising on the right with a raised central panel.

The ground floor includes a side entrance with a double-plank door and elliptical overlight within a solid porch to the left. Otherwise, there are steps leading to 3-panel doors, some of which are part-glazed. Number 15 has a shop front with a glass door and overlights. The ground floor windows consist of three 6/6 sashes with blind boxes, followed by canted bays with varying sash arrangements, including 4/4, 6/6, and 2/2 sashes between 2/2 and 1/1 sashes. Fluted pilasters, a frieze and cornice are present on the canted bays. The basement windows generally have 6/6 and 3/6 sashes.

The interior of the houses was not inspected during the listing process.

Newbold Street was laid out in 1826.
