Description
The Split Bridge, located approximately 2 metres north of Lock 21 on the Stratford upon Avon Canal, is an early 19th-century structure. It is built of brick and features cast-iron platforms with cast-iron trellis parapets. This single-arch bridge has brick parapets leading up to its approaches. The bridge is uniquely designed with a split in the middle, allowing the tow-rope to pass from one side of the canal to the other without needing to be unhitched.
