Description

Shrewley House is an early 18th-century brick house, originally colour-washed and rendered. It has a steeply pitched plain tile roof with brick parapet gable ends. The south-east elevation, which is rendered, has two storeys and an attic, and is arranged with three bays; the centre bay is gabled with a lunette window. A central doorcase features reeded pilasters, a pediment, fielded panel reveals, and a fielded panel door. The fenestration of the south-east elevation has been altered. The north-west entrance front now has 20th-century casement windows in the original openings and includes a lean-to addition. Brick chimney stacks are located at the gable ends. A circa 17th/18th-century gabled cross wing is present at the north-east end, with a 19th-century extension attached. The interior includes chamfered ceiling beams on the first floor, some early 18th-century joinery such as fielded panel doors, and some moulded plaster cornices.
