Description
This building, originally a house and later divided into cottages, now serves as Lloyds Bank. It dates from the mid-16th century, with alterations and partial rebuilding in 1978-79. The ground floor is constructed of coursed lias and limestone, while the first floor features sham timber framing and render. It has a tile roof with brick chimneys located inside. The building comprises two-storey, one-window cross wings and a one-story, attic center with two dormers. The center and wings each have 20th-century plank doors. Some early to mid-19th century iron casement windows are present. The return wall on the right-hand side exhibits close studding with a middle rail and rendered infill. A small amount of close studding is also visible at the rear. The interior has been significantly altered but retains some chamfered beams and an open fireplace. A 19th-century brick wing extends to the rear. The building was likely originally a hall house. Later 19th-century alterations to the right wing involved the complete removal of the left wing, a complete rebuilding of the right wing, and a refronting of the right wing to a matching design.
