Description

The Fox and Hounds Inn is a mid-17th century farmhouse, now an inn, located in Great Wolford. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with quoins, featuring a coped gable to the left and a stone-slate roof with stone ridge and end stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan. The two-storey structure has a 2-window range of 3-light casements with wood lintels, as well as 2- and 3-light mullioned windows with hood moulds and labels to the gable end. A 3-light casement is positioned to the right. The mullioned windows incorporate leaded lights. A 19th-century plank door with a wood lintel is situated to the left of the internal angle. A single-storey stone range with a stone-slate roof extends to the right. The interior features numerous moulded spine beams with pronounced ogee stops, and run-out stops. There's an open fireplace with a chamfered stone surround and a chamfered timber bressumer.
