Description
Mount Sorrel Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse with its main body dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, and a mid to late 19th-century extension. The main structure is built from coursed squared and dressed limestone with an ashlar facade, topped with a concrete tile roof and ashlar stacks. The extension features Flemish bond brickwork that creates a chequered effect, with limestone quoins, a slate roof, and ashlar stacks.
The main body has a rectangular plan and is two storeys high with an attic, which is illuminated by two 2-light 20th-century dormers. It has a three-windowed front with 12-pane sash windows. The central entrance consists of a part-glazed six-panel door, which is sheltered by a flat limestone hood supported by moulded brackets. There is a band over the ground floor windows, rusticated quoins, flat gable end coping, and gable end stacks with a moulded cap on the left stack.
The extension is also two storeys tall, featuring one 12-pane sash window on the first floor, complete with a limestone keystone and lintel, and three 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor. The interior has not been inspected.
