Description

The building is a house that has been converted into a post office, originally dating from the 17th century with an 18th-century addition and later alterations. It is constructed of coursed lias limestone rubble, featuring a steeply pitched renewed tile roof with swept eaves, stone coping, and a brick stack at the right end. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys plus an attic, with a three-window range.

The exterior includes a 19th-century shop front with four panelled pilasters and enriched consoles supporting a flat cornice. The glazing is small-paned and incorporates a post box, with a central entrance featuring a glazed 20th-century door. To the right, there is a segmental-headed window fitted with an 8/8 sash in a flush wood frame. On the first floor, there are two windows with small-paned cross-casements beneath timber lintels, and a similar window to the right. The attic features two 19th-century gabled dormers. A renewed datestone from 1615 is located above the shop front.

The right return has brick infill at the gable head, while the rear of the building includes a gabled wing with a four-light recessed-chamfered-mullioned window on the ground floor and various additions. Inside, some chamfered beams can be seen in the shop area.
