Description

The Saracens is a former public house, now a house, dating from the 18th century with 19th-century additions. The building is constructed of painted limestone rubble with sandstone quoins and features a steeply pitched hipped and gabled plain tile roof, which has been partly renewed, along with brick end stacks. It has an L-plan layout.

The main part of the building is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The entrance, located to the right of the centre, features a renewed door set within a moulded wood doorcase and is sheltered by a 20th-century rustic porch. Flanking the entrance are canted bay windows, each with small-paned casements arranged in a 1:3:1 pattern under cornices and hipped roofs. To the left end, there is a segmental-headed window with a three-light small-paned casement, while the first floor has windows with three-light small-paned casements. A former sign bracket with a scrolled wrought-iron support is positioned at the right end of the building.

To the right, there is an addition made of rubble with a brick end wall. This single-storey plus attic structure has a single-window range, with the ground floor featuring a window with a timber lintel above a three-light small-paned casement, and a 20th-century half-dormer in the attic. The right return has renewed windows and a stack on the gable wall, while the left return includes a lateral stack, one window with a horizontally sliding sash above a small-paned light, and a three-light casement on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
