Description
Nelson House is a house, which was once a public house, dating from the 18th century with 20th-century restoration and additions. It is constructed of red brick laid in Flemish bond and features a thatched roof, with renewed tiles on the rear and left end, along with a brick stack at the rear of the ridge and an end stack. The building has a baffle-entry plan and includes a late 20th-century addition to the left end.
The exterior is a single storey plus an attic and has a three-window range. It features a top modillioned brick cornice. The entrance is off-centre to the left and includes an overlight above a six-panel door with two glazed upper panels, a timber lintel, and a lean-to canopy. To the right of the entrance is a window with a brick flat arch above an 8/8 sash, flanked by large canted bay windows, which were rebuilt in the late 20th century and contain three 8/8 horned sashes. The window to the left end also has a brick flat arch above an 8/8 sash. The attic features three eyebrow dormers with two-light small-paned casements under wood lintels.
The rear of the building includes a large gabled range from the 20th century and a single-storey flat-roofed addition. The interior has not been inspected.
