Description

This is a 17th-century farmhouse with an 18th-century addition, located on Banbury Road, Edington. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a steeply pitched roof of graduated stone slates, featuring coped stone gables and stone end stacks. The original left-hand part of the farmhouse has a three-unit plan. The exterior presents a two-storey-plus-attic facade with a three-window range on the front; the main entrance is at the rear. The ground floor has windows with renewed two-light and three-light casements with small panes. The first floor has three windows with three-light small-paned casements, and the attic has two gabled dormers with small two-light leaded casements. The right-hand part of the farmhouse is two storeys high with a two-window range and coped stone gables. There is a plank door within a moulded stone doorcase with a key block at the left-hand end of the right return. Windows are fitted with eared stone architraves, also with key blocks, and contain small-paned casements. The rear of the farmhouse has a gabled porch and a 20th-century window on the ground floor. Above, are two windows with timber lintels over two-light leaded casements, the left one being 20th-century, and a stair window with a small-paned cross-casement, alongside a 20th-century window. Attached to the right end is a lower range and an early 19th-century stone farm building with 20th-century alterations, alongside a 19th-century brick barn that returns to the end. The interior has not been inspected.
