Description
A row of three cottages located at 1-5 Henley Street, dating largely to the 17th century with 19th-century additions. The cottages are timber-framed with plastered infill panels, and have an old tile roof with two 19th-century brick ridge stacks. The original layout comprises three units, with a parallel range added to the rear of numbers 1 and 3. The cottages are two storeys high with a three-window front. The doors are mostly 19th-century four-panelled, though number 5 also has a plank door leading to a passage. Number 1 features a half-glazed door and a 19th-century shop front with a rectangular bay window containing glazing bars. The windows are 19th-century casements with glazing bars, with some dating to the early 20th century. The gable end facing School Road displays exposed timber framing and a later ground-floor addition. A rear wing has a smaller gable and a brick stack on the corner. The interior of the rear wing is plastered; the rear of number 5 has largely been rebuilt in whitewashed brick. The interior of the cottages has not been inspected.
