Description
The Homeland is a cottage located on Harbury Vicarage Lane, dating from the mid to late 18th century and not built as a single structure. It has undergone alterations in the 20th century. The exterior features whitewashed squared coursed limestone and a Norfolk reed thatched roof, with a 20th-century brick ridge stack. The cottage has a four-unit plan, is one storey with an attic, and has a two-window range. The main front facing the garden includes a mid-20th-century whitewashed brick staircase projection and a late 20th-century stone porch with glazed double-leaf doors on the left. Inside, there is a part-glazed ribbed door, and to the right, two late 20th-century glazed doors lead to open porches. The windows throughout are casements with horizontal glazing bars, consisting of two lights on the ground floor and three lights in the eyebrow dormers, all featuring painted wood lintels. The return sides have two-light attic casements and 20th-century ground floor windows. The rear of the cottage, facing the road, also has a two-window range. Inside, the cottage features chamfered ceiling beams and an open fireplace.
