Description

This building, known as 46, 47, and 48, is a Grade II* listed house located in Preston on Stour. It dates from the late 16th century, with an extension added in the 18th century. The structure is timber-framed with plastered infill, and it features brick extensions at the right end. The roof is renewed with tiles and has brick and stone stacks with diagonal shafts at both the front and rear of the ridge.

The house has a two-unit plan with a cross wing to the right. It stands two storeys plus an attic and has a three-window range. The entrance to the wing features a plank door within a wooden frame. The windows include three-light leaded casements, while the first floor has two windows with two-light casements and one with three-light casements, all of which are leaded. There are also two large gabled dormers and a gable at the top right, each containing a small three-light leaded casement with crown glass. The ground floor displays close studding, while the first floor has square framing and decorative panelling, including eight-pointed stars, on the gables.

To the right, there is a single-storey brick extension with an attic, as well as an additional single-storey element to the right of this, both featuring machine tile roofs and casements. At the rear, there is a lean-to outshut. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to have exposed beams and at least one large fireplace.
