Description

Friday Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with restoration completed around 1972 and further additions made in the 1970s and 1980s. It features a timber frame with plastered and brick infill set on a rubble plinth, topped by a steeply pitched thatched roof with a brick end stack. The cottage has a single-unit plan and is single storey plus attic, with the gable facing the front to the right.

The entrance consists of a plank door within a wooden frame. To the right of the entrance, there is a window with a 2-light leaded casement, and an eyebrow dormer in the attic. The end stack is offset away from the original cottage and positioned towards the rear. An addition to the right includes a gabled dormer above a lean-to conservatory, and there is a further octagonal pavilion connected by an enclosed corridor over a loggia. A window in the front gable end also has a 2-light casement.

At the rear, there are two windows on the ground floor, both featuring 3-light leaded casements. The structure displays 2-panel-high square framing with tension bracing at the end.

Inside, the cottage has a chamfered spine beam and a stone fireplace with a bressumer. The 2-bay roof has an altered truss with a cut tie beam, collar, and crossed apex, along with riven rafters.
