Description
Nos. 13 and 14 Meer Street is a town house that has been converted into a shop and restaurant. It dates from the 16th century or early 17th century and was restored in the 1980s after a fire, with a large rear addition added in the late 20th century. The building features a timber frame with plaster infill and brick underbuilding, topped with a renewed tile roof. It has two storeys and a three-window range. The ground floor has a fascia and a central recessed entrance with paired doors and half-glazed inner doors, alongside a large flanking late 20th-century window with small-paned glazing. On the first floor, there are two windows with three-light casements and one with a two-light casement, all of which are late 20th-century with leaded glazing, and a small rebuilt gabled dormer to the left. The first floor, which was originally jettied, features close studding. Inside, the building has exposed beams, timber framing, and roof trusses.
