Description
15 and 16 Meer Street is a town house that has been converted into a shop and office. It dates from the 16th century or early 17th century and features a timber-frame structure with brick infill, standing on a rubble plinth. The building has a tile roof that is half-hipped at one end, with a brick cross-axial stack. It has a two-unit plan and is two storeys tall, with a three-window range.
The entrance to No. 15 is located at the left end and features a 20th-century glazed door. To the right of this entrance is a window with 20th-century small-paned glazing. No. 16 also has a 20th-century entrance and glazing situated between the wall posts. On the first floor, No. 15 has a window with a two-light small-paned casement that includes an iron opening casement, along with two square lights to the left and one to the right. No. 16 has a similar two-light casement and a square light to the right.
The right return of the building has a brick wall that retains the upper part of the wall post to the right, and a timber-framed gable with a small-paned casement. The rear of the building features two hipped-gabled wings and a large stack, with varied fenestration. The interior showcases exposed timber-framing and beams.
