Description
The Aylworth Monument, located approximately 2 metres south of the Church of St Peter in Wellesbourne Hastings, is a Grade II listed structure commemorating a member of the Aylworth family who died in 1670. The monument is constructed of ashlar and features a tall chest with a plinth, a top frieze, and a cornice. The front of the monument has a central projection beneath a segmental pediment, supported by attached Composite columns, although the shaft on the left side is missing. The Aylworth Arms are displayed in the centre, with a cherub below. On either side of the arms are worn inscription panels, each topped with fluted friezes, and there are Composite angle pilasters at the ends.
