Description

The farm buildings located approximately 2 meters north of Mary Arden's House consist of shelter sheds, a cowhouse (now used as a conservation laboratory and offices), a barn, stables, and loose boxes. These structures date from the 18th to 19th centuries and were restored in the late 20th century. They are built with regular coursed lias stone and some brick, topped with old tile roofs, and are arranged in an L-plan.

The left range features a 3-bay former shelter shed and cowhouse with brick piers. The first bay has double-leaf doors, while the two bays and former doorway to the cowhouse have been filled in with late 20th-century weatherboarding and windows. There is a plank door leading to a through-passage and a half-hipped roof. The former stable includes a door, a window, and a hay loft door, also with a half-hipped roof.

In the corner, the 4-bay barn has barn doors with a brick basket arch at both the front and rear, along with a small segmental arched window. The roof features a king post design with through purlins.

The right range includes a stable with a central stable door beneath a segmental lias arch and a hayloft door above, accessible from both the front and rear. There is a 3-bay brick barn with a lias plinth, featuring central doors and two small openings with doors at the front and rear. The loose boxes have two round arched stable doors, double-leaf doors, and two additional stable doors, one of which has a grille beside it, replacing the double-leaf doors.

At the rear of the left range, there are late 20th-century windows and skylights, while the barn has a brick cornice. The right range features a cross gable on the right side, partly of brick, with a lias porch and late 20th-century weatherboarding on the gable. The loose box range has a single stable door on the left and three small openings with doors.
