Description
The building is a laundry, now converted into a house, dating from around 1870 and possibly designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott for Sir John Mordaunt. It is constructed of brick with some timber framing and brick infill, featuring gabled tile roofs. The structure has a two-unit plan with a cross-wing on the right and a single-storey wing on the left.
The exterior showcases a dentilled brick cornice above the ground floor and square framing on the first floor. The right wing has brick panels on the ground floor and a timber-framed gable with simple barge-boards. The entrance, located to the left of the wing, features a gabled two-storey timber-framed porch supported by brackets, with a battened door that has strap hinges. The windows include leaded casements, with a five-light transomed casement to the left of the entrance and a bay window with a hipped roof above a one:four:one-light transomed casement on the wing. On the first floor, there is a two-light casement in the porch, a gabled half-dormer with a cross-casement and wide transom to the left of the porch, and a three-light casement on the wing. There is a stack on the left slope of the roof of the wing.
The single-storey wing on the left end features a large gabled half-dormer with a four-light transomed casement and a two-light casement on the right end. The right return has two segmental-headed windows and three raking half-dormers. The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of a group of estate cottages and other buildings.
