Description
This is a pair of houses located in Wellesbourne, built around 1865, possibly designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott for Sir John Mordaunt. The houses are constructed of brick with blue brick banding and feature a gabled tile roof with fishscale bands, along with a brick cross-axial stack with a cap.
The exterior consists of two storeys and has a symmetrical two-window arrangement. There are courses of blue bricks at both the sill and lintel levels. On the ground floor, the windows have sills and cambered heads, with blue brick courses above three-light transomed casements. The first floor features similar windows with cross-casements. Each side has a gable with a round window and simply patterned barge-boards. There is also a two-storey lean-to block that includes an entrance at the front, which has a cambered head leading to a plank door with strap hinges. A lean-to porch is attached to the return of the main range, supported by a post and featuring a pattern of pierced circles in the gable.
The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of a group of estate cottages.
