Description
A row of five houses and a shop, dating to the 18th and 19th centuries. The buildings are constructed of brick with stucco dressings, and have gabled slate roofs with brick end and cross-axial stacks. Numbers 3 and 5 were originally built as a single block, incorporating The Stag's Head public house; number 7 was built around 1750; numbers 5 and 7 were refaced, and numbers 9 and 2 Church Walk were built around 1835. Number 3 was refaced or rebuilt around 1850.
The exterior has two storeys and a five-window range, with a three-window recessed section on the left end, and a lower single-window range (number 3) on the right. There are brick cornices along the top. There are two entrances with doorcases, each with a cornice over a four-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed. The ground floor features a central canted bay window with a hipped tile roof, housing plate-glass sashes. A canted bay to the left has a cornice and 4/4:8/8:4/4 sashes; a small-paned shop window is to the right. The first floor has windows with sills and rusticated wedge lintels over 8/8 sashes. The section to the left has similar windows with 8/8 sashes, and an end stack. Number 3 has an entrance with a four-panel door; a canted bay with a cornice and 4/4:8/8:4/4 sashes to the left, and a two-light small-paned casement to the right, potentially a former through passage. The first floor of number 3 has a sill and a rusticated wedge lintel over an 8/8 sash, along with an end stack.
The interior of the buildings has not been inspected.
