Description

This is a dovecote located approximately 4 meters east of Palmer's Farmhouse in Wilmcote. It is possibly from before the 16th century and is constructed of coursed lias stone, with 20th-century timber-framed gables and brick infill. The dovecote features an old tile roof with a small open lantern and has a square plan. There is a central plank door. Inside, there are 657 nesting holes and a central beam that may have supported a former floor. The roof is constructed with queen struts and trenched purlins, using rough timbers. This dovecote is part of an interesting group that includes Mary Arden's House, farm buildings, and a barn and stable nearby.
