Description

A terrace of three town houses, built around 1840, with Nos. 1 and 2 specifically dated to 1845. The houses are constructed of brick with buff brick headers, topped with a slate roof featuring brick end stacks and a cross-axial stack. They are designed in a Georgian style and extend over two storeys, presenting a symmetrical 4-window and a 3-window facade across a seven-window range. The eaves soffit is plain.

The entrances are distinguished by aedicules incorporating Doric pilasters and Tuscan entablatures; these frame 3-panel doors, with decorative glazing bars to the overlights. Nos. 1 and 2 share a paired entrance, while No. 3 has a door consisting of six fielded panels. The windows have sills and rusticated wedge lintels with decorative keys above the 12-pane sashes. A blind window is positioned above the entrance to No. 3.

The left return elevation has a blind window on each floor. The rear of the terrace features a catslide outshut and a lean-to outshut. These townhouses represent part of the early 19th century development of the northern area of Stratford, known as New Town.
