Description

Horseshoe Cottage is a cottage, originally two dwellings, dating to the 17th or early 18th century. It is timber-framed with plaster infill, and is believed to have some lath and plaster construction. A section of the right-hand wall was rebuilt in the late 20th century, using imitation timbers in cement. The roof is tiled, and the chimneys have been removed. The cottage has a two-unit plan and features a four-window front. A central plank door has a leaded light panel, and there is a door to a rear passage on the left. Much of the left-hand end wall has been rebuilt, using lias and brick. Some timber framing is visible at the rear. Inside, there are two open fireplaces with chamfered bressumers, and some exposed framing. The cottage is included on the list for its group value.
