Description

This is a terrace of four houses, one of which is now a shop, located at 37-43 Birmingham Road in Stratford-upon-Avon. Built between 1826 and 1827, the houses are constructed of brick with buff headers, although No. 37 has been stuccoed. The terrace features a slate roof with brick end stacks and a cross-axial stack, designed in the Georgian style.

The building stands three storeys high and has a four-window range with wide eaves. No. 37 has an early 20th-century shop front that includes two canted bay windows with leaded upper lights flanking a half-glazed door, along with a fascia above and a canopy. To the right, there is a round-headed entry with a tympanum over a plank door. Another entrance to the right features a moulded doorcase, a lozenge frieze, a cornice, and an overlight above a half-glazed door. There are also two similar entrances to the right, each with overlights above six-fielded-panel doors.

The windows throughout the terrace have sills and are topped with rubbed brick flat arches over sash windows. The ground floor includes a four-pane sash window to the left of centre and a 16-pane sash window to the right of centre. The bay window at the right end has moulded pilasters and an entablature, with 4:16:4-pane sashes. The first floor features 16-pane sashes, while the second floor has 8-pane sashes. Originally, this terrace was known as Wellington Terrace.
