Description

The railway footbridge at Wilmcote Station dates to 1883 and was built for the Great Western Railway. It is constructed of cast iron columns with moulded capitals, supporting a latticed iron frame and a corrugated iron roof. The roof features decorative wooden finials and pierced fretwork to the canopy, along with the date and Great Western Railway initials displayed within the spandrels. The footbridge has projecting wooden staircases which create a U-shaped plan, mirroring the roof and canopy design. It is a well-preserved example of a Great Western Railway footbridge.
