Description

This is a 17th-century farmhouse, remodelled in the early 19th century, situated in Pilleton Priors. The farmhouse is constructed from squared, coursed limestone with ironstone and brick dressings, and has brick gable ends. The roof is slate-covered, with brick ridges, end stacks, and an internal stack. It has a four-window front, arranged in a four-unit plan. A plank door with two small glazed lights, set within a segmental brick arch, is located centrally to the left. Another plank door, with a lintel and keyblock, is situated centrally to the right. Early 19th-century three-light casement windows are present in most openings, with some replaced in the 20th century. All windows have segmental brick arches. A one-storey outbuilding is attached to the right of the farmhouse. Inside, a large inglenook fireplace features a dressed stone surround and a chamfered timber bressumer. A second inglenook has a chamfered stone surround with ogee stops, above a cambered and chamfered timber bressumer, and a brick-lined bread oven is also present. There are chamfered spine beams and stone flagged floors throughout.
