Description
Fenny Compton Lodge is a house built in the early 19th century, with a rear wing added in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from ironstone ashlar and features a slate hipped roof with a moulded plaster eaves cornice, along with rendered ridge and end stacks. The building is designed in a late Georgian style and has an L-plan layout, with the wing located to the left at the rear. It is two storeys high and has a four-window range. The entrance includes a panelled door with two vertical panels and an overlight featuring decorative glazing, framed by a doorcase supported by thin Tuscan columns and an entablature. The sash windows are topped with stone lintels that have flush keystones. The irregular left return side features a canted bay, while the right return side has a rear wing that faces directly onto The Slade. A small Gothic stone triangular oriel with arched lights and a leaf corbel adds to the character of the building. Inside, there are two notable early 19th-century marble fireplaces, and the straight flight staircase has a moulded string.
