Description
Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 17th century or early 18th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century or early 20th century. It is constructed from pebbledashed ironstone, featuring an ironstone string course, even quoins, and a simple cornice. The roof, added in the late 20th century, is tiled, and there are brick ridge stacks. The building has a double-depth plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a symmetrical three-window range. The central entrance features a half-glazed door with margin bars from the late 19th or early 20th century. The windows include three-light and a central two-light casements with glazing bars, all framed by simple stone surrounds with keyblocks. The left and right sides of the building have attic windows, while the rear has twin gables and a two-window range with a half-glazed four-panel door. There are three-light and two-light attic casements as well. A single-storey range at right angles on the left side is likely an addition. Inside, the large entrance hall has a run-out chamfered ceiling beam. There are remains of open fireplaces in both the hall and kitchen, several doors with two fielded panels and strap hinges, and a straight flight staircase.
