Description
This building is part of Barclays Bank and was originally a town house. It dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century and has undergone later alterations, including an early 20th-century rear addition. The structure is timber-framed with plaster infill and features a tiled roof. It has two storeys plus an attic and a single-window range, with a jettied first floor and gable. The entrance, located at the right end, has carved timber spandrels and a half-glazed door. The ground floor includes a large three-light leaded window, while the first floor features a three-light window flanked by two-light ovolo-mullioned windows, along with a similar two-light window in the gable, all with leaded glazing. The rear addition has a shaped gable and an early 20th-century shop front that includes pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice above the leaded glazing, as well as a brick-mullioned window on the first floor.
