Description
Jasmine Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with additions from the 19th and late 20th centuries. It features a timber-frame construction with plastered infill and some rubble, topped by a thatched roof with a brick end stack. There are also brick and plastered breeze block additions that have tile roofs. The cottage has a single-unit plan and is a single storey with an attic.
The exterior includes a small window with a two-light casement and a timber pentice, along with full-height framing panels that have rails and tension braces. The left side of the cottage has a painted stone bulge at the back of the fireplace and two small windows in the attic. The right side retains the original gable wall and has a single-storey and attic addition featuring a segmental-headed window with a two-light pegged casement, which was altered in 1991 with an additional structure at the end. The rear of the cottage has a small single-storey lean-to outshut and a small raking dormer.
Inside, the cottage is noted for its projecting chimney breast with a fireplace. It is likely that Jasmine Cottage was originally a squatter's cottage located on the edge of the village, similar to another nearby property known as Little Thatch.
