Description
The Teddy Bear Museum is a house that has been converted into a museum, dating from the 16th century or early 17th century, with a refronting that occurred around 1800. The building features painted brick with some internal timber framing and a tile roof with a brick stack at one end. It stands two stories tall and has a two-window range. The top of the building is adorned with a modillioned brick cornice. The ground floor includes a 20th-century shop front with a recessed central entrance, topped with a frieze and cornice. On the first floor, there are two windows fitted with 4-pane sashes. The end wall posts are notable, with the right post extending full height and the left post only reaching the first floor. At the rear, there is a range under a catslide roof.
Inside, the museum showcases exposed chamfered beams and timber framing, along with a blocked segmental-headed entrance on the right return. The roof structure consists of three trusses featuring tie beams and collars, with the central truss lacking a collar and the left end truss displaying an exposed arch-brace and wind braces.
