Description
Old Thatch Tavern is a public house located in Stratford-upon-Avon. It dates back to the 16th century, with later alterations and an early 19th-century addition. The building features a combination of brick and timber-framing with painted brick infill, topped by a thatched and tiled roof that has a brick stack at both ends and one along the front ridge.
The tavern is two storeys high and has a three-window range, with an additional three-window section to the right. The ground floor is primarily brick, while the first floor retains some wall posts and timber framing. The windows include casements with two and three lights, and on the first floor, there are two windows with iron opening casements. The addition has a tiled roof and a cogged brick cornice, with a segmental-headed entrance and a segmental-headed window to the left featuring a three-light small-paned casement. To the right, there is a segmental-headed carriage entrance. The first-floor windows have brick sills and margin-light sashes.
On the left side, there is an entrance with a plank door and casements on both floors. The rear pitch of the roof is tiled. Inside, the tavern features chamfered beams.
