Description
Westering is a house with origins dating back to the 17th century, although it underwent significant alterations in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed from coursed squared ironstone and features an artificial slate roof, with stone end and ridge stacks that have 20th-century brick shafts. It has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a five-window range.
The entrance is located between the first and second bays and features a 20th-century leaded half-glazed door set within a shallow open-fronted stone porch. To the left and right of the entrance are 20th-century stone-mullioned windows with hood moulds; the ground floor has a three-light window, while the upper floor has a two-light window with a single central light. On the right side, there are two-light 20th-century metal casements with glazing bars.
Inside, the hall boasts broad-chamfered ceiling beams, and the fireplace includes a chamfered cambered bressumer. The building is included for its group value.
