Description
The railings, gates, and gate piers located approximately 15 meters east of the Church of St Peter in Wellesbourne date from the early to mid 19th century. They feature an ashlar plinth supporting cast-iron railings, along with cast-iron gate piers and a brick pier with ashlar dressings. The railings extend about 14 meters along the east boundary of the churchyard and are adorned with enriched heads shaped like concave-sided lozenges, some of which have scolly brackets. At the south end, there is a wide gate accompanied by a narrower gate to its south, flanked by three octagonal open-work piers set on plain plinths with pointed caps. The north end includes a stop-chamfered brick pier topped with a pyramidal ashlar cap.
