Description
Canal Bridge Number 61 is a canal bridge built around 1814, with later restoration work. It is constructed of brick with stone coping and features cast-iron elements. The brick abutments have parapets that show repairs from different periods, especially noticeable on the south-west side, while the parapets on the north-east side slope down to ground level. The bridge's decking consists of two cantilevered halves with a central gap designed to accommodate a tow rope, and it includes integral handrails with X-framing. The South Stratford Canal, where this bridge is located, was built between 1812 and 1816, and this bridge, along with its adjacent lock, represents well-preserved examples of the canal's infrastructure. The other part of this bridge is listed in Aston Cantlow Conservation Area, Stratford-on-Avon District.
