Description
Red House Farm House, located on the north side of Daventry Road in Napton on the Hill, is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the mid to late 18th century, with a rear wing that may be older. The building is constructed of Flemish bond red brick, featuring a string course and a dentil cornice, while the plinth and rear wing are made of coursed squared ironstone rubble. The roof is covered with old tiles, patched with 20th-century tiles, and has stone-coped gable parapets and end stacks. The house is designed in an L-shape, with the wing extending to the rear on the right side. It has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. The entrance features a late 20th-century part-glazed panelled door with an overlight, and there is a 19th or 20th-century open timber porch. The windows are cross windows with horizontal glazing bars, and all openings have brick segmental arches with keystones. The dormers contain 20th-century casements, and the rear wing has a brick dentil cornice and features late 20th-century casements with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.
