Description
The headstone for Mary Southam and her daughter Mary, both who died in 1682, is located approximately 50 metres north of the Church of Holy Trinity in Stratford-upon-Avon. This late 17th-century headstone is made of limestone ashlar and features a broad stone with a shaped head. It has inscribed decoration and a well-cut inscription that includes verses, which are partly buried. The inscription reflects the faith and virtues of the deceased, emphasizing their devotion and the hope of resurrection. This headstone is considered a good survival from its period.
