Description

The two tombs located immediately south of the chancel of the Church of Holy Trinity in Stratford-upon-Avon are dedicated to the Easthope and Smith families and date from around 1810 and 1820. Both tombs are made of ashlar stone. The western tomb features a moulded plinth, moulded balusters set in rebates, and a moulded edge along the top slab, with fielded panels on each side. The south side of this tomb records Susannah and Edward Easthope, who died in 1795 and 1810, respectively, while the north side lists Elizabeth, who died in 1837, Sarah, who died in 1818, Goodwin, and two other infants. The ends of the tomb commemorate Mary, who died in 1805, and another daughter who died in 1800. The eastern tomb also has a moulded plinth and a moulded edge to the top slab. It records James Smith and his wife Dorothy, who died in 1812 and 1820, respectively, on the south side, and Harriet Edwards and Lucy Smith, both of whom died in 1835, on the east end.
