Description

The Grand Union Canal at Stockton Locks features a flight of eight locks, basins, and escape channels, which were originally constructed in the early 19th century. The locks were restored in the later 19th century and around 1930. The structure is primarily built of blue brick, with some red brick and concrete elements. Each lock is equipped with iron and wood swing gates, along with four cast iron winding shafts. The basin walls are topped with concrete coping.
