Description

Lawrence Sheriff's House dates to circa 1515 and has undergone significant restoration. It is a timber-frame building with whitewashed plaster infilling, topped by a tiled roof featuring a gabled projection on the right side of the front elevation. The house is two storeys high with attics, and contains a 1:1 lattice pattern of casement windows. Historically, the property was owned by Lawrence Sheriff, the founder of Rugby School, and is traditionally believed to be his birthplace. The building’s group value derives in part from its historical significance.
