Description
Coachman's Cottage at Brownsover Hall is located on the east side of the courtyard and dates from the mid-19th century, likely designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. The cottage is constructed of red brick featuring blue brick diaper patterns and stone dressings, topped with slate roofs. It consists of a three-bay block that is single storey with an attic, featuring a half-hipped roof and two tall gabled dormers at the front. There is a central brick ridge stack. To the right of the main block is a tall single storey wing with a stone-coped end gable and a gable with a stack. The main block has a central entrance doorway that is sheltered by a large open gabled hood supported by heavy timber brackets. The windows are stone framed and mullioned, with four-light casements to the right of the porch, a two-light casement to the left, and two-light windows in each of the dormers. The wing also features similar two-light windows under brick relieving arches, and all casements include glazing bars.
