Description

Canal Bridge No. 9 on the Ashby-de-la-Zouch Canal is a canal bridge built around 1800. It was repaired in the late 20th century. The bridge is constructed from limestone ashlar, with the top course of the parapet renewed and some areas patched with rendered concrete blocks. It features a string course and rounded coping, along with a semi-circular arch. The ends of the bridge curve out to square piers, and there is a cast-iron number plate. The canal itself was started in 1794 and finished in 1804.
